Details and Process

Printing

All prints in the Phil Crozier Art Shop are produced to museum-grade archival standards in Calgary, Alberta.

Each print is produced on Hahnemühle Photo Rag Pearl 320gsm: a 100% cotton, acid-free fine art paper with a subtle pearl-gloss finish. Every print is individually inspected for quality before shipping.

Each print includes an approximate 1–2 inch white border around the image area, providing clean handling and framing clearance. Paper dimensions are slightly larger than the image size.

After extensive testing, Photo Rag Pearl was selected for its subtle lustre, which gives each image depth and presence without the reflectivity of a gloss paper.

  • 100% cotton, acid-free and lignin-free
  • White base, no optical brighteners
  • Pearl-gloss finish
  • ISO 9706 certified for museum-quality age resistance
  • Expected display life of 100+ years under proper conditions

Printing is done at a Hahnemühle Certified Studio, chosen for its colour accuracy and archival standards.

Print Sizes

The prints below illustrate the relative scale of each available size in a residential setting.

Print size reference

Each photograph is printed in the orientation it was made in. At the smallest size, a landscape image measures 18 inches wide by 12 inches tall, and a portrait image measures 12 wide by 18 tall.

Limited Editions

All fine art prints are strictly limited editions, numbered and accompanied by a signed Certificate of Authenticity.

  • 12×18" — Limited Edition of 100
  • 20×30" — Limited Edition of 50
  • 30×45" — Limited Edition of 30
  • 40×60" — Limited Edition of 10

Each print is assigned a unique edition number (e.g. 7/50) at the time of purchase. Once an edition is sold out, it is permanently closed. No further prints of that image in that size will be produced.

Each print features a white border that includes the artist’s signature and edition number. You may choose to keep the border visible when framing, or have your framer trim it to present the image flush to the frame.

Artist Proofs

Each edition includes a number of Artist Proofs (APs) retained in the studio archive. Artist Proofs are not part of the public numbered edition. Occasional AP releases may be offered privately, clearly identified on their Certificate of Authenticity.

Certificate of Authenticity

Every numbered edition print is accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity signed by the artist, confirming the image title, edition number, print size, and date. PHOTOPHILCRO Inc. maintains a studio record of all numbered prints sold.

Packaging, Shipping and Care

Prints are carefully packaged using archival-grade materials for safe transit. All shipments are tracked and insured. Shipping within Canada is included in the price of all prints.

Prints should not be stored in their tube as long term storage may create bowing or creasing.

Caring for your print

  • Never touch the face of the print with bare hands — handle it by the edges or the white border only
  • Use compressed or canned air to gently remove dust
  • Avoid stacking prints; paper edges can scratch the surface
  • Keep the print away from direct sunlight and high humidity
  • To flatten a rolled print, lay it flat under a weight larger than the print

Local Framing Options

We don’t offer framing services, but here are some Calgary framers we recommend.

Michaels — Custom Framing

If you are working with your own framer

  • Acid-free mat board and backing
  • UV-protective glass or acrylic, to prevent fading
  • Let the print air out for at least three days before framing, so it does not cloud the glass
  • Ask your framer to handle the print by the edges only

Prints ship unframed. We recommend having your print shipped directly to your framer to minimize handling.

Original Artworks

Currently working on a collection of original mixed media artworks which combine archival pigment printing, hand applied resin or varnish, hand finishing with mineral or metallic dusting. These are one-of-a-kind objects. Each is a unique original work of art and can not be replicated. Pricing will be available upon inquiry. A gallery show is in the works so make sure to sign up for notifications.
